Accessibility Statement
ShareHearth is a free, non-profit community project. Accessibility is part of the idea itself: a service whose whole purpose is recognising people must be open to everyone, including people with disabilities.
Conformance
This site and app are built and maintained to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA. That is the standard underlying Israel’s IS 5568 (required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility) Regulations, 2013), the EU’s EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act, and the guidance commonly applied under the US ADA.
What we have done
- Every form field is programmatically bound to its label, so assistive technology announces it.
- Every field, button and image has an accessible name; alt text on non-decorative images.
- A “skip to main content” link on every page, for keyboard navigation.
- Full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator.
- Status messages are announced to screen readers via aria-live regions.
- Semantic landmarks and a logical heading order.
- Colour contrast measured against the actual painted background and corrected to at least 4.5:1 for body text.
- Full right-to-left support, including Hebrew and Arabic.
- The site supports 200% zoom without loss of content or function.
Assessment
In full transparency: this site was audited and corrected internally against WCAG 2.0 AA on 16 July 2026. It has not been certified by a licensed accessibility auditor. We state this plainly rather than claim an approval we do not hold.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts may not yet be fully accessible. As of the date above we are aware of:
- Avatar initials: white initials on a coloured circle do not reach a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. The person’s full name is always shown beside it as ordinary, accessible text, so no information is lost.
- User-generated content: we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content written or uploaded by other members.
